Welcome to the 2026 MBZC Villa Angelica Sesshin Registration
Sesshin will be led by Shogen Danielson of the Monterey Bay Zen Center Teaching Council
Sesshin will be held from Thursday dinner February 26 through Sunday lunch March 1.
Please note that space is limited. At this time, we can only confirm reservations for practitioners attending the full sesshin (either in residence or commuting).
Participation Fees
To keep the sesshin accessible, MBZC is offering a sliding scale based on the cost to MBZC. Please pay the highest amount you are able to afford. Full residential participation, including room and board for 4 days and 3 nights is estimated at $500/person. This is the standard fee as seen below.
To help defray the cost for those who cannot afford the standard fee (i.e. who are on limited income), please consider paying $600 or adding an additional donation of any amount to assist. This is greatly appreciated.
If you cannot afford the standard fee for residential participation, you are welcome to pay the smaller $400 amount or use the "custom amount" option to pay what you can afford over $400. Please pay the highest amount you can afford.
For those staying in their own homes and commuting each day, the non-residential fee is $75 less with the sliding scale from $325 to $525, and the standard fee at $425 (see options below).
No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Pre-registration questions and advance arrangements
Please reach out to the directors to make special arrangements here by email using the button below or add your requests to your registration when making payment if:
The minimum is more than you can afford and you'd like to apply for work-practice assistance;
you are unable to attend the full weekend and would like to request to be placed on a waitlist for partial participation (should single-day or overnight spaces become available);
you'd like to pay by paper check;
if you have any questions regarding the sesshin schedule, zendo conduct and practice forms, or making a commitment;
you have any other pre-registration questions.

The Monterey Bay Zen Center asks that all participants commit to the full schedule and follow all community guidelines. Each practitioner helps create this retreat by participating in their assigned jobs throughout the weekend. Thank you for your contribution.
