Illustration: Jizo Bodhisattva from a scroll by Sara Hunsaker
Jizo is venerated, particularly in Japan, as benefitting all beings: children (including the unborn), those in the depths of hells, travelers. The staff carried has rings letting those ahead know of arrival. The Wish Fulfilling Gem being held is a gift — an offering.
Scroll inscription: Help me make a place for you wherever you need to be. (Rilke)
